What are the changes on the design of the irobot Roomba 980?

The Roomba 980 shape is basically as same as the older models. It has a round body with the bumper on the front and removable dust bin on the back. On the bottom of the device, we have one side brush and two rotating brushes. The top of the device has “Clean”, “Home” and “Spot Clean” buttons. Compared to the previous models, the Roomba 980 has a much more practical interface:

Clean: launch the cleaning cycle of the robot.

Home: make the Roomba 980 go back to its station.

Spot Clean: cleaning targeted area only (around 3ft diameter circle).

How can we control the advanced features?

To program the Roomba 980, you will use the iRobot Home App available on Android and iOS. This enables you to:

  • Schedule the cleaning cycle of the vacuum cleaner
  • Change the cleaning Mode from Carpet (boost) to automatic cleaning (AutoDetect surface)
  • Program the robot for a two cleaning passes
  • Enable or disable edge cleaning
  • Program the Roomba to return on its station when the dust bin is full
